Are you trying to solve a problem or an emotion?

Emotions are Not Problems, They are Senses. We think we are solving problems when we are only resisting emotions. It happens a lot.

Emotions are not problems. Think about that again. And then ask yourself, how often do you act as if they were?

Emotional avoidance is at the core of our healing journey. One major way we get trapped in emotional avoidance is by thinking of our emotions as problems. Emotions are senses as much as hearing, taste or sight. If you taste something bad you don’t cut out your tongue. So why do people go to such great lengths avoiding emotions?

When you begin to see your emotions as senses, you can take the time to actually feel them. When you do that you realize that none of them are really physically painful. Think of your most unpleasant emotion. Let’s say feeling rejected. How does that feel in your body? Physically? Feel it now. Even if you don’t currently feel rejected you can bring up the physical sensation pretty easily. Check it out. Do you feel it in your throat? chest? belly?

Unhealed Emotions eventually become physical sickness. When you try to solve an emotion as if it were a problem you get stuck.

We get sick when we refuse to feel. Western medicine barely takes that into account, and that’s a shame. When I see a client for energy healing or hypnosis the first thing I want to know is where the emotional pain is and how it is staying locked into place. Life is experiential and the most important experiences always have a huge emotional component.
